Iterated Galois towers, their associated martingales, and the p-adic Mandelbrot set
We study the Galois tower generated by iterates of a quadratic polynomial f defined over an arbitrary field. One question of interest is to find the proportion an of elements at level n that fix at least one root; in the global field case these correspond to unramified primes in the base field that have a divisor at level n of residue class degree one. We thus define a stochastic process associ...
متن کاملWhat p-adic icosahedron could mean? And what about p-adic manifold?
The original focus of this article was p-adic icosahedron. The discussion of attempt to define this notion however leads to the challenge of defining the concept of p-adic sphere, and more generally, that of p-adic manifold, and this problem soon became the main target of attention since it is one of the key challenges of also TGD. There exists two basic philosophies concerning the construction...
متن کاملHypercomputing the Mandelbrot Set?
The Mandelbrot set is an extremely well-known mathematical object that can be described in a quite simple way but has very interesting and non-trivial properties. This paper surveys some results that are known concerning the (non-)computability of the set. It considers two models of decidability over the reals (which are treated much more thoroughly and technically in [1], [2], [3] and [4] amon...
متن کاملp-adic Shearlets
The field $Q_{p}$ of $p$-adic numbers is defined as the completion of the field of the rational numbers $Q$ with respect to the $p$-adic norm $|.|_{p}$. In this paper, we study the continuous and discrete $p-$adic shearlet systems on $L^{2}(Q_{p}^{2})$. We also suggest discrete $p-$adic shearlet frames. Several examples are provided.
متن کاملIs the Mandelbrot set computable?
We discuss the question whether the Mandelbrot set is computable. The computability notions which we consider are studied in computable analysis and will be introduced and discussed. We show that the exterior of the Mandelbrot set, the boundary of the Mandelbrot set, and the hyperbolic components satisfy certain natural computability conditions. We conclude that the two–sided distance function ...
